I avoid the WordPress "edit image" option (crop, etc), as it creates a clone of the image and generates again all the thumbnail sizes I let Wordpress and my theme generate the necessary thumbnails. ![]() I manually edit images before uploading to the correct size and resolution. Thanks for helping out here if you have established a good workflow for yourself and can share it with me.īe aware what image sizes my theme uses, and manually edit the thumbnail/medium/large sizes in the dashboard to correctly fit the sizes in use. ![]() Does this mean I could save all the time on the individual preparations of images before uploading it? Will there be still several versions of that same image as mentioned in point 2 (thumbnail, medium, large)? I realized this can be applied to already uploaded images and newly uploaded images. Plugins can take care of the size (dimension) and compression of image files. Is there really no way to easily manually rename the filename of an image after uploading? Do I have to take care of the used file (size) at the end, e.g., when adding an image to a post, or does WordPress automatically choose the most appropriate file or version of that image? That would mean I need to re-upload a larger version if I need to, thus I see quite some disadvantages and additional effort hereĪs far as I understood WordPress automatically generates additional files for each uploaded image (thumbnail, medium, large) to use the most appropriate file size and improve performance.
